More Than 30 Institutions Join as Tokenization Service Targets October 2026 Launch
The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation announced on July 15 that it successfully converted DTC-custodied securities into tokens and completed transactions in a live production environment. The production test covered collateral pledging, securities lending, delivery-versus-payment for Treasuries and repos, equity trading, token transfers, and central counterparty margin workflows.
The transactions were executed across Hyperledger Besu, DTCC's private chain, and Canton, a public chain, reflecting a multi-chain deployment strategy. J.P. Morgan converted Invesco QQQ Trust ETF holdings into tokens and used them to meet CME Group central counterparty margin requirements. DTCC plans to launch its Tokenization Service in October 2026, enabling participants to create tokenized mappings for custodied securities.
RWA competition across public chains is also accelerating. Solana's RWA holder count reached 300,130, surpassing 300,000 for the first time, with distributed on-chain RWA value of about USD 3.62 billion and 30-day net inflows of roughly USD 967 million. BNB Chain's RWA value exceeded USD 5.2 billion, up 32.26% over 30 days, with 665 tokenized assets and a 14.91% share of the cross-chain RWA market. Franklin Templeton's Benji platform has about USD 1.5 billion deployed on BNB Chain, representing 61.71% of the platform's total assets.
On the exchange side, Bitget launched a cross-asset Unified Trading Account that brings more than 370 eligible assets into a single margin pool, including 100 tokenized U.S. equities under the rToken model. These rTokens can be used for equity exposure, cash dividend collection, futures and margin collateral, or pledged borrowing of stablecoins, showing that tokenized assets are moving from ownership representation toward broader practical utility.
